It's *finally* that time of year where we're starting to get some longer and warmer days. The in-between seasons season is actually one of my favorites because your wardrobe can hold such a variety: long-sleeves and a beanie one day, linen and a straw hat the next. I view it as the final hurrah for my winter pieces and just scratching the surface of warmer weather outfitting. The best part? Straw season is back baby!
Since most of my go-to straws are a natural or neutral color, I like to add some accessories to spice them up a bit for their introduction. Keep in mind, most of our hat bands are sewn down on straw as opposed to tacked like some of our felts, so it can be a little trickier to find a space to add those feathers in. For the Baja, I just added a single feather by the castle logo where there's a space in-between the leather. Palm straw is our most durable straw so I added a pin the side where it wouldn't damage as much as it would in a toquilla straw (remember toquilla straw can crack!) If you're not feeling the feather look, or the commitment to the pin, you can opt for just some texture of fabric. I had this strand of indigo dyed denim and just tied it around the leather band for some extra variety in material. Some other at-home additions I love are matchbooks, bandanas, and playing cards!
