Contrary to popular belief, size does matter, and one size does not fit all. Measuring your head to ensure that you select the right size hat is easy, and depending on your idea of a good time, incredibly fun. Here’s how:

STEP 01

Locate a soft, flexible seamstress tape measure. Determine the widest portion of your head, typically starting just above the eyebrows and in the rear, you may feel a slight knot on the back of your skull.

tip

No soft tape measure? Simply cut a 30” piece of string and grab a yard stick.

STEP 02

Using a mirror, place the tape so that centimeters are visible starting at the front and wrap it comfortably around your head covering the widest portion until it overlaps above the eyebrows and ears.

tip

If using a string method, follow the steps above. Mark on the string where it overlaps so that you can lay it down against the yard stick to determine the length in inches.

STEP 03

You should be left with a measurement between 52 & 63 centimeters. Use our provided conversion chart below to determine your appropriate hat size. Enjoy.

It’s always good to measure a few times to ensure that you achieve a consistent result.

Hats are forgiving but still require a bit of TLC. The natural tendency is to grab a hat by the pinch, but if you want your hat to keep its curves, you should grab it by the brim. Grabbing hats by the pinch will cause the felt to discolor, the pinches to cave in, or straws to crack.

keep itCLEAN

You'll find that a hat brush comes in very handy for removing dust and debris, regardless of whether you have a pet at home, don't store your hat in a hat box, or simply live in the real world. For a fresh look, brush the hat heavily in a counterclockwise motion before wearing or preparing it for cleaning.

stayFRESH

A bit of steam will do wonders for your hat if you notice it's getting old, wrinkled, or emitting an odor. Steam the trouble areas on your hat with a garment steamer or boil a pot of water. Use your hand to manipulate the shape or wrinkles out.

Pro-tip: When your grosgrain hat band becomes wrinkled, simply splash some cold water on it and the wrinkles will disappear.
