Let's talk Hat Walls. In case you missed it, one of our very first blog posts was how to make a hat wall at home (check it out here) Hat walls are great for many functional and style reasons. One, it functions as actual storage of all your hats, which if you're a collector, becomes very necessary. Two, it is a great way to show off your collection and use it as a statement piece of decor in your home. Win-win? We think so!
Since we interact with so many hat-lovers on our social media channels, Nicky (our social media and community manager), started asking frequent Goorin collectors about their collections, why they love hats, and to share what their hat walls at home look like!
Our first interview in this #hatwallwednesday series is with Michael Gallace, who has become one of our Goorin brand ambassadors. Check out the interview with Nicky and Michael below!
Q: When did you begin your Goorin Bros adventure? Is there a story behind it? / A: I was always fascinated by fedoras. But my Goorin Bros adventure started in 2008 when I bought my first fedora The Bad Boy at the West Village Store in NY. From there I was addicted, any city that I would visit that had a Goorin Shop I had to stop by and buy a hat. Now I’m completely hooked on The Farm. I’m always ready for that Friday drop.
Q: When did you begin to realize you were starting a collection? / A: Actually not that long ago, me and wife became hooked on the trucker hats and now we have over 60
Q: Was there a mind-shift somewhere along the way where you knew you were about to embark on something bigger? / A: Yes, I started to realize not only on social media but in the real world that there is a huge loyal fan base of people who love Goorin Bros hats. It’s helped me meet new people with a common interest and also people wanting to know more about the hats.
Q: What are these hats fulfilling from within that has made you keep going and adding to your collection? / A: They make me feel like me. Like this is who I am. I can be myself and express myself through the wearing of the hats. As funny as it sounds I feel more confident with myself. Each hat has its own expression and meaning to me. I enjoy waking up and deciding what hat I’m today. Overall they just put a smile on my face.
Q: What are your top three favorite hats that you own? / A: The Red and Black Buffalo and Lone Wolf trucker caps and the Nighthawk fedora.Q: Any that you missed or think we should bring back or make for the first time? / A: There are too many to name that I have missed or want to bring back like the Night Owl or Chameleon but I think a Fire Ant trucker would be neat.
Q: You are a brand ambassador. How has that been going? / A: Yes!!! It’s been absolutely the most amazing thing that’s happened to me. I have meet so many cool people and interact with them. I love talking with them about the hats and being able to refer them. I have people stopping or reaching out to me asking all sorts of questions about Goorin Bros. It has actually kickstarted my dream of opening up my own store.
Q:Any message you wanted to give to our customers about why you choose Goorin and why you choose to continue adding more and more hats to your collection? / A: The company culture, the community, the support and the hats. Everyone should be wearing a Goorin Bros. hat. Keep on coming out with awesome hats and my collection will keep on growing. And also sign up for the text alerts!
